Eloïse Ashworth
Born in France and growing up in the Sultanate of Oman, her curiosity for the world and love of the ocean inspired her journey as a marine scientist.
From France to New Zealand and Australia, Eloïse’s adventures and research experiences led her to complete a PhD in fish biology and fisheries sciences. Driven by her enthusiasm for conservation, she also co-founded, leads and assists in many exciting citizen science and research projects, including fisheries management, freshwater ecology, biological invasions, and the monitoring of reef and seagrass ecological communities.
She is now involved in the first bi-national (USA and Canada) prey fish restoration program in Lake Ontario to re-establish an endangered native fish.
Podcaster and public speaking mentor, Eloïse is also passionate about engaging communication.
In October 2016, she began producing and hosting Lumières, a long form podcast.
Lumières is dedicated to share the wonder of science and inspire the next generation to pursue their dream career through candid conversations with experts worldwide, including scientists, entrepreneurs and beyond.
Through improv comedy and her strong belief in personal growth, Eloïse conquered her fear of public speaking to do science outreach and motivational speaking.
She then co-founded Speak On Your Feet, a series of professional development workshops to help fellow scientists develop vital communication skills and build confidence on the stage of life.
